  1. My poem also has no set rhyme rhythm and has a lot of nontraditional punctuation. Our poems are very similar except for the fact that our themes are different. They are written the same, but my theme is about boasting the city of Chicago where yours is about loss and despair. Your poem is more depressing than mine.

  3. This poem is different from my own in that it talks about lost and despair where as mine is about life and the changing of roles within a life the magi learn that they are not the true kings but that Jesus is. In your poem they talk about the nontraditional things and church has been a central traditional value throughout time.

  4. The first thing I noticed about your poem that is similar to mine is the sad feeling of despair. In your poem, the woman in the mirror takes peoples lives away, while in mine a little girl dies because of her depression. Both poems are great examples of modernism because they deal with the separation of mind from world and the feeling of sadness.

  5. My story also dealt with loss and despair. This appears to be very common in Modernist writing. Mine was also untraditional at times, but it did not do anything that completely different. It was still like a typical story, but it would directly talk to the reader.

  6. How strange... the poem I read was about loss as well. One difference though is that my poem had a very traditional meter and rhyme, while this one did not.

  7. You described the loss of each family and, what I would imagine to be, tension between the different groups. My short story also discussed the loss of a generation and the fights it caused between two sides.

  8. Your poem was about loss which was a common characteristic in modernism. Both of our poems were very short and not traditional in what literature was previous to modernism. Mine did not have a rhyme scheme either.

  9. Our poems were similar because mine too did not have very good punctuation, but rather you had to focus on the words and what was happening in the story. The difference is yours seemed to be really negative while my poem was very positive. The thing that stood out to me the most was the fact that she trapped herself in a mirror which is very different and takes on a new perspective like modernism writing usually does.

  10. Our poems are similar because mine was written in free verse and does not follow common grammatical rules. The thing that stuck out to me was that she trapped herself into a mirror which is uncommon and would not be written about in previous writing styles.

  11. The works that we read are similar because they both had the modernism themes of loss and despair. In the story that I read, the main character faced loss and despair when she could not afford to live in her house anymore and was forced out, leaving her with nothing. Well done gabberzqueen

  12. Our poems were similar in that the main characters of our poems dealt a lot with loss and despair. The thing that stood out to me was that the title of the poem was very appropriate, considering the way it was written!:)

  13. Althoug my short story did not have seem to have a lot of shared characteristics with yours, I have seen the alienation/individualism come up in a lot of others poems/short stories.

  14. Our poems both mentioned the subjects of loss and despair as well. When the man and the woman both pass away in my poem, it is a very sad time and the people of the town bury them together side by side. I think that the thing that caught my attention the most was when it said she trapped herself in a mirror. I think that is very sad and deep because I feel that she wants to be seen by a lot of people because she feels alone.

  15. Our poems are different in format. Yours is written in free verse, as opposed to mine, which has a rhyme scheme. Our poems are also have very different subjects and settings, but do contain similar overall themes of despair, alienation, and are both untraditional for the time periods.
